AVEZZANO Nerikomi Vessel #A3
This vessel from the Strata – Avezzano Summer Collection is slab & hand-build from layered and hand-cut porcelain segments, assembled into a continuous, banded volume. Directional nerikomi strata are arranged in angled panels that wrap around the form, creating rhythm and subtle rotation.
A distinct coral-red rim encircles the opening, acting as a structural and chromatic counterpoint to the cooler stratified body. Select seams are filled with gold, tracing the lines of division and reassembly. These luminous infill lines do not conceal fracture; instead, they emphasize it — transforming structural joins into intentional markers of reconstruction.
Both the exterior and interior remain unglazed, preserving the raw tactility of the porcelain and allowing the layered structure to remain materially present. The composition evokes the agricultural geometry of the former Lake Fucino landscape seen from above — a drained basin reorganized into fields, lines, and sedimented planes shaped by time and intervention.
