AVEZZANO Nerikomi Vessel #A5
This vessel from the Avezzano series is constructed entirely through nerikomi, composed of layered porcelain slabs that are cut, rearranged, and reassembled into a continuous, woven surface. Black and ivory bands intersect in shifting directions, forming a dynamic grid that wraps around the sculptural body.
A delicate, minimal gold join interrupts the surface at a single point — a quiet, intentional seam that acknowledges the process of construction without dominating the composition.
The exterior is finished with a clear glaze, creating a subtle reflective layer that enhances the depth of the black and ivory pattern. Light moves softly across the glazed surface, emphasizing the relief of the layered clay. The porcelain itself is thin and translucent; when illuminated, the ivory sections gently transmit light, transforming the bold graphic contrast into a warm internal glow.
The form is asymmetrical and tactile, balanced between vessel and illuminated sculpture — structured yet luminous.
