BOLOGNANO Neriage Vessel #B1
This vessel is created entirely using the nerikomi technique, in which carefully layered, pigmented clays form the structure of the object itself. The pattern is not applied to the surface but runs through the entire body, revealing a dense, stratified composition.
The color palette is deep and nocturnal, dominated by charcoal, graphite, blue-gray, and muted slate tones. Thin lines of off-white and soft gray move through the form like distant horizons or moonlit paths, while occasional subtle accents of muted red appear as quiet interruptions—recalling traces of cultivated land embedded in darkness. The layered bands shift direction across the surface, evoking fields seen at night, where boundaries dissolve and terrain becomes abstract.
The form is compact and grounded, with a low, rounded body and a calm, open mouth. Its matte, mineral surface reinforces the sense of stillness and depth, allowing the object to exist between vessel and landscape. Inspired by the fields of Bolognano after dusk, the piece captures a moment of quiet, density, and time held within the earth.
