BOLOGNANO Neriage Vessel #B1
This ceramic vessel is created entirely using the neriage technique, in which differently pigmented clays are blended so that the pattern runs continuously through the form. The same marbled structure appears on both the exterior and interior surfaces, dissolving the boundary between inside and outside and emphasizing the vessel as a single, unified body.
The color palette is subdued and atmospheric, dominated by deep charcoal, graphite, and blue-gray tones, layered with soft off-white and muted gray. Accents of warm, muted red punctuate the surface and trace the edges of the opening, recalling the last light of dusk settling over the landscape of Bolognano. The swirling patterns evoke eroded stone and slow geological movement, shaped by time and natural forces.
The form is rounded and open, with a sinuous, carved aperture that draws the eye inward and reveals the continuity of the material. Existing between vessel and sculpture, Bolognano Dusk captures a moment of transition—between day and night, light and shadow, surface and depth.
