BOLOGNANO Nerikomi & Neriage Vessel #B7
This Bolognano vessel from the STRATA series combines neriage and nerikomi in a composition that evokes the surrounding vineyards at night, illuminated only by moonlight.
The exterior is formed through neriage, where dark porcelain clays are blended into a deep, mineral surface of smoky graphite and muted charcoal. Soft passages of milky white and cool blue emerge irregularly, like reflected light moving across a nocturnal landscape. The surface feels atmospheric and fluid, recalling hills, mist, and distant terrain under a shifting sky.
The interior reveals a structured nerikomi composition — layered bands of deep blue-black, graphite, and muted brown arranged in horizontal strata. These darker internal lines contrast with the more atmospheric exterior, suggesting cultivated rows of vines seen from above, ordered yet absorbed into night.
The sculptural body is punctuated by carved openings that introduce light into the interior space. These apertures act as controlled voids, allowing shadow and illumination to interact with the layered clay structure. The form exists between vessel and landscape — compact, grounded, and quietly luminous.
