HOLLOW Nericomi & Neriage Vessel #H1
This ceramic object is a dialogue between two techniques and two visual orders.
The interior of the form is created using the nerikomi technique, composed of precisely arranged layers of colored clay that form a rhythmic, linear pattern visible in section and depth. The internal structure is controlled and almost geological, recalling a rock cross-section or a record of time.
The exterior surface is formed through neriage, where colored clays are blended more freely, resulting in organic, fluid transitions and irregular markings. The contrast between the disciplined interior and the expressive outer surface emphasizes a tension between construction and natural process.
The form is open and asymmetrical, with a distinctly sculptural presence. The opening functions not merely as a utilitarian feature but as an invitation to look inside, where the hidden structure becomes as significant as the outer silhouette. The object exists between vessel and sculpture, between landscape and architecture, between interior and surface.
