PESCARA Neriage Vessel #P2
This ceramic vessel is created using the neriage technique, where differently pigmented clays are blended to form fluid, layered patterns that run through the entire body of the piece. The surface is marked by sweeping bands of deep blue-gray, slate, and soft indigo, interlaced with broad passages of ivory and off-white. Occasional traces of muted rust and warm ochre appear within the layers, adding subtle contrast and depth.
The form is low and open, with a gently irregular rim that emphasizes its hand-built character. The flowing patterns suggest movement and stratification, recalling the meeting of land and sea along the Adriatic coast near Pescara—where water, sediment, and shoreline continuously reshape one another.
Balancing between vessel and sculpture, the object foregrounds material, rhythm, and place. Its mineral palette and wave-like structure evoke coastal geology and the quiet, persistent motion of the sea.
